Schedule Update

February 17, 2006

Note:  Schedule change for this weekend . . .

Dolan Ellis was originally scheduled to perform this weekend, Feb. 18 & 19.  Because Dolan has been called away, we have an updated appearance schedule for you .  . . There will be no show on Saturday, BUT, we are proud to be able to present Kip Calahan this Sunday, February 19.  Fortunately for us, Kip has a performance engagement in Tucson on Saturday for the Tucson Rodeo, so she is able to come perform for all of us on her way home to Animas, New Mexico!

Kip comes to us from the historic Grey Ranch in Animas (now known as the Diamond A) where her husband has been foreman for several years.  She writes and performs much of her own music inspired by the ranch and cowboy way of life, and also sings a lot of familiar contemporary and traditional western music.  Kip performs in western concerts, festivals, and cowboy poetry gatherings all over this part of the country.

Kip has a clear, strong, alto voice and has been recognized for her singing and songwriting talents by the AWA (Academy of Western Artists) with several award nominations over the last few years.  In 2004, Kip was named AWA's Female Vocalist of the Year, and in November, the AWA gave Kip their award for 2005 Album of the Year.

Kip's performance on Sunday begins at 2:00 pm, doors open at 1:00 pm.  Admission/donation is $12.00 for adults, $6.00 for students 17 & under. For show reservations or other information, please call us at 520-378-6165 or email folklore@email.arizona.edu
