Arizona Folklore Preserve

Schedule Update,  October 12, 2006

Hello Everyone!

We have been off to a very busy new season since August 19 with wonderful performers and fabulous audiences.  The line-up through the end of the year is a fun one, and we are already taking reservations for all of the up-coming shows.

This Saturday, October 14 at 2:00 pm, it's Sierra Vista's own nationally known cowboy poet, Bud Strom, on stage with his colorful stories and poetry celebrating our western life.   After Bud retired as a general in the US Army after 30 years of service, he began ranching south of Sierra Vista more than 15 years ago, and now has a beautiful spread and a most handsome herd of cattle and horses.   This life to which he is so devoted has inspired most of his writing, and his performances delight audiences at festivals and gatherings to which he is invited all across the country.  If you've not seen Bud perform, you are certainly missing a most enjoyable show.  Bud has written 2 books of poetry, "Dry Lightning" and "Cowboys & Angels", and has recorded a CD entitled "Lightning & Angels".

On Sunday, October 15, Mark Mulligan returns to the Preserve with his light, fun, Jimmy Buffett-style tropical folk music.  Mark has a smooth voice which is a cross between Buffett's and James Taylor.  His easy smile and endearing stage presence make him a joy to listen to.  At the time of this newsletter, we are both happy and sad to say that we are sold out for Mark's show, but we are taking names for a cancellation list.

Next weekend, there will be no show on Saturday, the 21st as we have a wedding here at the Preserve, but on Sunday , Oct. 22nd, it's the Santa Cruz River Band! . . . an absolute favorite.
