February 14-15 Dolan Ellis, Arizona’s Official State Balladeer “Arizona: The Valentine State” The AFP has a great opportunity this weekend, to be a part of the celebration of Arizona’s 97th anniversary as a state. Join Dolan Ellis as he salutes the state he loves to sing about. February 21-22 Jim Jones Jim Jones is a Texas native who moved to New Mexico in 1991. In 2002 he completed his conversion from the country sound to the Western sound. Western music has worked out well for Jim and his fans, because he truly understands the cowboy way of life and writes wonderful songs to convey his feelings. After several nominations for major awards, Jim’s latest accolade is the 2008 Will Rogers Cowboy Award for Male Vocalist of the Year, Western Category, presented by the Academy of Western Artists.

February 28-March 1 Way Out West Every AFP artist has something unique to offer, and Way Out West, with the lively music they refer to as “Bordergrass,” is no exception. It’s like Western music on steroids, slowing down occasionally to give the audience a chance to rest. All three are songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, and singers. A current list of the Top Ten Cowboy/Western CDs in the nation has Down on the Ol' Bar None by Way Out West tied for 7th place. Coming in March: 7-8 Sid Hausman. Sid’s credits include music for the critically acclaimed documentary, “Cochise County: Cries from the Border.” 14-15 Dolan Ellis, Arizona’s Official State Balladeer, presents “Cochise County.” 21-22 Keeter Stuart. Keeter is nephew of the famous Stan Jones, and more importantly, a fine singer/songwriter in his own right. 28-29 Call of the West. Jeanne Cahill and Jerome Campbell are a great pair, both exceptional as instrumentalists, singers, and songwriters. |

Arizona Folklore Preserve concerts will be suspended for the weekend of February 7-8 so everyone can enjoy the Cochise Cowboy Poetry & Music Gathering events. AFP Gift Certificates are perfect for people you know who are already fans, and for those you think should become fans. We have $30 gift certificates made up in advance, perfect for attendance by two adults. We can make them for any amount, and they are good for entry fees, CDs, and other merchandise at the bookstore. Here’s another thought: if you are a realtor or in another customer-oriented occupation, why not make an AFP gift certificate your “thank you” gift? You can purchase your gift certificates at the weekend shows. Inquiries may be made by calling our reservation line: 520-378-6165 or email reservations@arizonafolklore.com. |
